Keep your eyes ears and nose open. You can visually check your car yourself. Checking all your fluids and making sure they are topped is an easy thing to do. You can inspect your tires for wear and to see if they require rotation. Do you see oil, water or break fluid under the car?

I think sometimes people get confused about what is old and what is new. I know sometimes I do. Here is one view I hold about oldness and newness: I often label something new which is, in truth, very old or original or foundational. For example, the new paradigm of business is the application of what I consider to be old values that have been lost in the maze of competition, greed, pressures, and false beliefs. Allowing spiritual principles to be expressed more openly is new for many groups of persons, yet is an ancient idea.
In putting together this article, I considered a number of dichotomies besides new/old that might convey what I want to say; for example, I considered, familiar/unfamiliar, obsolete/recent, outgoing/incoming, preferred/not-preferred, old (or current) paradigm/new paradigm, and it/not it.

How cool is that?
I recall the first time I headed over to my brother’s house to take a look at his new PS2 and his new playstation 2 games. Being out of the video game loop since the first Nintendo, I was utterly flabbergasted at the realistic graphics and sound effects. These new playstation 2 games are just so real. It is such a quantum improvement over the classic Atari games that it isn’t even funny. No more stick men. There was anything from martial arts games to sports games to spy adventures. It looked incredibly lifelike. Who wouldn’t love playstation 2 games?

Hoping for a comeback: Oklahoma City arts organizations hurting

The show must go on, but it’s not going to be easy.
Since heavy rains flooded the basement and subbasement of the downtown Stage Center last month, several arts organizations have had to find new performance homes, set up new offices and struggle to replace costumes and props, some of which are irreplaceable. Meanwhile, the Stage Center basement has been gutted, dried and sanitized, but its future as a performance, office and educational space is not clear.
Peter Dolese, executive director of the Arts Council of Oklahoma City, which owns the Stage Center, said a quarter of a million dollars already has been spent on cleanup, and final assessment is not done.
“We’re still waiting for insurance companies, adjustors and contractors to get back with us,” he said, “but it’s staggering.”
This is the second time the Stage Center has flooded – the first was in 1993, Dolese said. After that, the basement entry – at the end of a long ramp that can accommodate a semi-truck – was rebuilt with double-wide stainless steel doors that opened out. But it still wasn’t enough to hold off the onslaught of rain.
“The doors were closed and locked, and the water filled up the ramp entry outside until it got above the steel doors, then the sheer weight of the water broke the doors off their hinges and water gushed in and completely consumed the basement,” he said, adding the basement is about 15,000 square feet.
The water – a mixture of rain, sewage and ground water – not only ruined arts organizations’ supplies with about 5 feet of water, but also wrecked the subbasement, which held the facility’s breakers, boilers, air-handling equipment and phone lines.
